MYERS Robert W. Robert W. Myers, 82, of East Toledo, died September 12, 2006, at Bay Park Community Hospital in Oregon, Ohio. He was born on August 21, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio to Cecil and Felicita (Marquies) Myers. He married Jessie G. McCabe on September 29, 1950, and would have celebrated 56 years of marriage later this month. Friends may call from 1-9 pm Thursday, September 14, 2006, at Eggleston - Meinert - Pavley Funeral Home in Oregon, OH, where services will be held Friday, September 15 at 10 am The Rev. Lawrence Detruf of First Church of God will officiate. Bob served in the United States Marine Corps from February 1943 to January 1946 during WWII and again from August 1950 to June 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He participated in action against the enemy at Saipan-Tinian, Marianas Islands, in June 1944-August 1944; at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, April 1945 and June 1945. Among his many awards, he received the Presidential Unit Citation with one star, Asiatic-Pacific with three stars, American Defense and Navy Occupation. Bob worked as a conductor on the New York Central Railroad at the Stanley Yard in Walbridge, Ohio for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He made many lifelong friends while working in the Yard and loved to share stories of his time on the trains, especially the times he brought his grandchildren to work with him.
